The ceremonial handover of the keys

Donation of the Domaine de Guilé in Boncourt (JU)

Fondation Guilé is donating its Domaine to Fondation Les Castors Boncourt/Porrentruy, 14 March 2018 – In order to provide an opportunity for the development of an innovative and large-scale social project which promotes respect for human dignity, Fondation Guilé is donating its Domaine to Fondation Les Castors. This property will offer Fondation Les Castors an exceptional place to develop new care and support facilities for people with disabilities and to enable their social integration. Fondation Les Castors aims to implement three projects on the site; namely a gardening project over the 18 hectars, a training centre and accommodation facilities.

The ceremonial handover of the keys will take place on 23 April 2018.

Fondation Les Castors is well-known throughout the Jura canton for the commitment it has been providing to people with disabilities for over 50 years. Founded by mothers of children with disabilities, it has grown steadily and today welcomes people with disabilities in ten centres throughout the Jura canton.

“We would like to express our deepest thanks to Fondation Guilé who are offering our foundation a considerable opportunity to develop new projects for people with disabilities. We are delighted that we will be able to offer projects to enhance skills and promote social integration and create a unique place of diversity, which will be named “Domaine de Mont-Renaud”, says Jean Crevoisier, President of Fondation Les Castors.

The donation of the Domaine fits clearly into Fondation Guilé’s aim of ensuring that this property continues to be used to promote ethical values and is the latest concrete expression of the Burrus family’s intergenerational belief in respect for human dignity.

“I am particularly thrilled to hand over the keys of this heritage property to Fondation Les Castors. This donation enables us to continue working towards the common good and towards sustainable development, values that Fondation Guilé has been supporting since its creation”, affirms Régis Burrus, President of Fondation Guilé.

About the Domaine de Guilé

Located near the border town of Ajoulote, the Domaine de Guilé was built in the 1930s and was formerly the family home of Léon and Marguerite Burrus. Its name comes from the amalgamation of its founders’ two forenames: Marguerite, who was known as Guigui, and Léon (Gui-Lé). The Domaine later became the property of Fondation Guilé, founded by Charles Burrus and his wife  Bernadette with the aim of promoting fundamental ethical values within companies based on the 10 principles of the United Nations Global Compact, as established by Kofi Annan at the beginning of the new millennium. It was completely renovated in the 2000s as a space for meetings and seminars organised by the Foundation.
